2000 Calendar of Events

Special events in Cocke County fill the calendars of people all over the world. The Ramp Festival is the oldest on-going festival in Tennessee, and every May, the festival celebrates the ramp, a vegetable of the lily family that looks like a little green onion but tastes like powerful garlic. The Dulcimer and Harp Festival in June, and the Christy Mission Homecoming in August both bring large followings of people to Cocke County. During October, many festivals are held in celebration of harvest time and always promise excitement and good fellowship with the various hometown communities in Cocke County. Christmas activities include the annual Christmas Parade, and the annual Christmas Gathering by the Arts and Crafts Guild provide wonderful feelings of happiness during Christmas in the Smokies.
